The Javashink.com website led to a local radio show in Miami. Tara took the same kinds of questions on the radio and answered them live on the air. Coffee House
The Warehouse Café was a coffeehouse Tara started with a friend of hers in Miami. It can be looked at in many ways. She loves all aspects of business so it was exciting to do everything from pulling permits to opening a storefront. However, it was also an outreach to the community. A gathering place for teens, college students and anyone who was looking for a place to gather. With this action Tara was able to pull her local community together, and now wishes to do the same on a wider scale.
They had open mic poetry, chess club and bands on the weekends. There were many artists on display. It won “The Best Coffee House of Miami” Miami New Times. Tara is a Certified Master Level Barista (or was years ago)! She still makes an incredible cappuccino and an array of coffee drinks. She is teaching a class right now in her Life Skills and Assessment class (ages 12-15) and training them how to become barista’s (coffee bartenders).
A Church
The Call Church: A group of people that gathered at the coffeehouse also saw a need to study God deeper and gain enhanced knowledge in their beliefs, and so on Sunday nights at the Warehouse Café they started an alternative type of Church. People of the coffee house did not want to go to any kind of format of a regular church so they started something where everyone could explore the deeper meanings of life, Biblical issues and God's concepts.
Public Speaking
Toastmasters was introduced to Tara before she was old enough to join. They made an exception for her and she went every week as part of an elective high school class. College taught her the psychology behind speaking and listening. Currently at speaking engagements, her particular opinion is most of the time it becomes boring listening to people speak – especially about themselves! She wants to listen to you! “Let’s have a conversation and see what comes up. Life has a way of surprising us all!”
Home School – World Wide
Tara fits in to the umbrella of a home school mom. However, her daughter is in a coop and Tara likes to say she is privately tutored; by herself, by her husband(he works at Microsoft) and she hires out one or two subjects. “Home Schooling – World Wide” is her own particular philosophy that she does not preach or push on anyone. She loves to travel and hopes to pass this on to her daughter. Oasis (her daughter) has a passport and it has many stamps. She’s gone to some of the best museums of the world and Tara truly wants her to have a world view; to love and appreciate the entire planet and all humans.
In addition, when Tara looks at education, she considers Oasis might be going to school in England, China or Costa Rica one day. She’s not sure where they will always be living. So she needs to prepare her for the educational system – World Wide. That’s just them, she says!
Medical – 9 Lives
Tara’s life has been saved so many times. In her 20’s she had a wife planned for her spouse because they found a brain tumor. She asked her husband once if he thought they'd ever have kids and he said he didn’t think she would live long enough!
It is amazing what we can overcome. She has come back around again and now she's totally healthy physically! The body and mind has resilience-power.
Life is truly amazing! It will shock you if you let it.
Tara admits her hardest times in life are facing the loss of loved ones which she has had to do both suddenly and through long medical battles. She understands if you are facing these issues. Very, very hard.
