Growing up in a small town, Tara loved peeking into the outside world. Traipsing around the vintage stores and looking for lost treasures—oh, such fun! A glossy Buddha from India? Maybe a Vietnamese incense holder, or even an odd little piece of jewelry from Turkey. She was just keen and eager to get out and explore the world.
Tara states she was not devoid of all outside culture. There was that trip to Mexico and she did have her first crush in Canada! In between, her family had her living on an Indian reservation for a time while her dad worked for the Fish and Wildlife Services. These were perspective gaining experiences. In addition, it helped when she agreed to go to a private school (as her parents were having serious trouble – it was safer this way). Tara lived in a dorm with a Princess from somewhere in Africa and other interesting people from around the globe. There were many incredible stories to be shared from this experience.
She moved to Missoula, MT right after high school where she met her spouse and soul mate, John. They eloped and have been married ever since. John and Tara moved to Miami shortly after and enrolled in a pilot program through Colombia University to study Theology together. Hurricane Andrew blew in eight months later and they left the program shortly thereafter.
After traipsing around Miami for a few years trying to settle in, Tara, with her friend Sandy, opened the Warehouse Cafe, a coffee house and The Call Church.
Following this experience she completed her education in Early Childhood Education, Counseling and Communications. The most exciting and life-changine event in Tara's life was the birth of her daughter Oasis. Tara feels lucky to be part of this generation of women who can stay home, run a business, home school, travel and have a balanced relationship with their spouse. It takes concentration, effort to understand who your family is, compromise, faith and Brain Tricks!
